Baptism in Paris
In France, God’s work is ongoing, not only among the indigenous French but also among the more than 100 different people groups living in Paris. The Paris team has seen God use an American church from Arkansas to impact the lives of Turkish people. There have been salvations and the creation of new churches in a matter of months, all because a church from America took the Great Commission seriously.
On Monday, Oct. 9, 2007, a young Turkish couple was baptized in a calm, picturesque lake. The husband and wife are former Muslims who learned about Christ through one of our region’s correspondence courses. Volunteers from the United States led this couple to Christ in June of this year.
It was poetic that during the baptism, while their two children were watching the event, a new mosque — near the lake’s shoreline — was being built. It comforted the hearts of all those present to know that the course of a family’s heritage was being changed because of the courage of this young couple. They no longer need a mosque; they’ve found the Water of Life (John 4:13-14).
