In Bratislava, Slovakia, 3 girls in their late teens were immersed on Nov. 6. Two of them are in a Bible study being discipled. Petition with the CENTRAL CATHOLIC CLUSTER that their testimonies in the church and in their respective lives will cause other Slovaks to be curious and desire what they have!
More Prayer Requests
TEAM SWP (CENTRAL CATHOLIC CLUSTER) requests intercession for the weekly conversation times on Fridays at the language school in which they are involved. These meetings are going very well, but pray that they will continue to expand. The annual Christmas Carol Concert will soon be happening as well. Ask that those who attend will come with open hearts and lives. Pray for all who will be singing and that a powerful message will be shared.
Ahh…the scent of a fresh-cut pine is filling the room, as this year’s Christmas tree is being set up and decorated. Do you know that the custom of the modern Christmas tree originated in the 16th century in Germany and that Martin Luther is credited with having been the first to add lighted candles to a tree? As you light up your tree each evening, remember to pray for Germanic peoples in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, and around the world, who do not have a saving faith in the Lord Jesus. Intercede with the GERMANIC CLUSTER that during the Christmas season they will come to know the Light of the World and bow down in worship to the King of kings!
Who are the last “pagans” of Europe? That would be the Mari – the majority of whom reside in the Republic of Mari El and neighboring provinces located east of Moscow. Although nearly 50% of the population adheres to the Russian Orthodox Church, less than 1% are Evangelicals. In some areas, Protestants have been prohibited from holding public evangelical meetings and in 2002, a Baptist church was evicted from its place of worship. Paganism is cited as a contributing factor that has made Mari El the world’s suicide capital; however, economic and cultural problems play a role in this as well. The republic is one of the poorest regions in Russia due to the fact that there are few natural resources and that their military industry, collapsed after the fall of the Soviet Union. In addition to this, forests, marshlands, climate and soil conditions make much of the land unsuitable for agriculture. High alcohol consumption is a serious social problem, as well as the exodus of educated young people, who leave the republic in search of better job opportunities. Intercede that these poor people will find riches through a relationship with Christ. Pray that their sorrow will be turned to joy, as they join together to worship the one true God.
Intercede on behalf of the Greek Christmas Fellowship that will be help Dec. 7 for leaders working with Greek Evangelical Churches. A member of the SYDNEY TEAM (DIASPORA CLUSTER) has been asked to share their vision of partnering and working to reach out to the Greek population in Sydney. Pray that God will open doors for connecting with others.
