Eastern Hungary Team (east_hun)

The Hungarian people, or the Magyar (MAH-djar) in their own language, migrated to the Carpathian basin in 895 A.D. from the Ural Mountains and quickly conquered the territory with their swift horses and superb battle tactics. Today Hungary is a small central European nation divided in two, east and west, by the Danube River. While the west looks West for hope and prosperity, the eastern Hungarians look back to their roots for cultural identity. The majority claim to be Roman Catholic, but primarily because of their cultural heritage. The Bible is readily available in Hungarian, but few read it and even fewer really study it. Current surveys indicate that of the 4.7 million people in eastern Hungary, less than 1 percent have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
