Have you ever been told,“You are not welcome here?”That is the type of reception Poles sometimes receive when they arrive in France seeking a better standard of living. This attitude was accentuated in 2005 during the run-up to the failed European Union (EU) constitutional referendum when the “Polish Plumber” became a stereotype for the low-paid workers who were considered an economic threat.
