Earlier this spring, media reported that record numbers of Ukrainians moved to work or study in other countries in 2012—1.2 million to Russia, 9 thousand to Canada, and others to Europe.
Please intercede for wisdom among Baptist congregations as Ukrainian singles and families with younger children are contemplating long-term moves this summer and fall.
Pray that Baptist missional leaders can help connect Ukrainians who choose to move with evangelical fellowships or church starts in their new neighborhoods.
Ukrainian Baptists--who have been some of our personnel’s strongest partners for over twenty years--have designated 2013 as the year of missions. August 30-31, a Baptist Missions Forum has been planned in Kiev.
Please pray for God to unite the Ukrainian Baptist Missions Forum leaders’ vision, raise up new church planting teams, and strengthen their resolve and resources to reach the nations.
There is no indication that any evangelical group is targeting the Hutsul for church planting and no known believers. Pray for the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the harvest.
The Hutsul are remotely located and have their own language and culture, making them difficult to reach with the Gospel. There are few English speakers and little infrastructure. Pray for God to call laborers to minister among them.
Most Hutsul consider themselves Christians as part of the Uniate church, but they are strangers to the Gospel. Pray for revival in their churches and for the truth to be taught.
A church planting program at a seminary in Ukraine needs CPers looking to impact the nations to come spend time teaching national CPers.
The 500,000+ Hutsuls of Ukraine live in villages in the Carpathian highlands. There is currently no known church planting effort among them. Pray for believers to share the love of Christ/plant churches among these precious people.
