Our cities are not just visited by those wishing to see the sights, but also by many who come to share Jesus in diverse ways.
A couple working with the DIASPORA CLUSTER in ITALY share, “Nine of the top 22 Unreached, Unengaged People Groups (UUPGs) in the European Affinity are related to Italy or Italians. For this reason, we just relocated to Milan, Italy. Please pray for the movement of the Spirit among these UUPG’s and for US churches that might possibly embrace them and begin churches among them. Also lift us up as we build relationships in our neighborhood, as well as across Italian borders in Switzerland, France and Germany. Pray that our language skills will be sharpened quickly and that we will sense and obey God’s leadership in our new setting.”
Do you know how to build a chimney that allows smoke to escape, but doesn’t let the wind blow it back in? The Arbereshe did and it was from them that Italians learned this useful skill. From 1399 onwards, Italy has had an Albanian minority known as the Arbereshe, who live scattered across the southern part of the country. The Arbereshe have moved away from the use of their native language, and now prefer Italian. They appear to be well assimilated into the Italian society, and yet they still have a strong social presence and ethnic cohesion. Intercede that the Albanians in Italy will have opportunities to hear the gospel and that they will quickly be assimilated into God’s Kingdom.
A member of the WESTERN MEDITERRANEAN CLUSTER in ITALY shares, “The new partnership with the Tennessee Baptist Convention is really beginning to take off with churches across the state beginning to mobilize to help target the areas of Italy, where there is little or no gospel witness. Lift up the churches and their leadership, as they begin to plan for multi-year commitments.”
